Each week, we’ll reveal stories of babies and families who have been impacted by The Milk Bank across our 20-year history. Thanks to your support of Fund an Ounce, we’ll be able to continue serving families just like baby Camille’s. Read her story of impact below.
When Camille was born, her parents wanted to give her the best possible start in life. But when Camille’s mother’s milk didn’t come in right away, they had to make a decision on what Camille’s feeding plan would be.
They had always planned to breastfeed, so they were unsure what to do when there was a gap in her breast milk needs. Luckily, they found out about the option to offer Camille donor milk to bridge the gap as they waited for her mother’s milk to come in.
“When Camille was born, we wanted to make sure we gave her the best start,” said her dad, Terry. “So when my wife’s milk didn’t come in at first, we chose to supplement with donor milk. Now Camille is growing like a weed! We’re so thankful for the boost she got at the beginning from The Milk Bank.”
Your support not only provides safe, pasteurized donor milk to fragile babies but also helps us serve more outpatient families after they’ve been discharged from the hospital.
