National Breastfeeding Month
The U.S. Breastfeeding Committee has declared August as National Breastfeeding Month! The Milk Bank is proud to serve parents and growing families by providing breastfeeding resources, support and safe donor human milk when mothers’ own milk is not available to babies in need.
August 25-31 is Black Breastfeeding Week
We’ve got a big line up of events in August, from lactation stations, to milk drives, to latch-on events! It all culminates on August 23 for our premier annual fund raising party, Pints for Preemies. Check out the list below and see how you can join in the fun!

Pints for Preemies, August 23
Join The Milk Bank in supporting fragile babies in our community and enjoy a fun night out this summer! Beer for you = milk for babies! Our third annual Pints for Preemies fundraiser features good BIER, Ash & Elm Cider, Jockamo’s pizza, outdoor games, silent auction and more! Indiana State Fair
The Milk Bank is pleased to once again provide a lactation station RV at the Indiana State Fair, August 2-18, for breastfeeding families! We are now recruiting individuals to help us monitor the RV for various shifts during the fair's events.
Indianapolis Colts Training Camp
For the first time we are partnering with the Colts to provide a lactation station RV for moms visiting the Indianapolis Colts Training Camp, July 25-August 15.
Let us help you clean out your freezer! The Milk Bank is hosting several milk drives this month. Bring your excess milk, fill out a medical history form, and we’ll draw a little blood for testing. Becoming a milk donor has never been easier!
You are eligible if:
- in good, general health
- a nonsmoker
- taking limited medications and herbal supplements

Midwest Big Latch On Events
At Latch On locations around the world, women gather together to breast feed and offer peer support to each other. their, friend, family and community join this celebration to promote and support breastfeeding.

August 3, 9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. All nursing mothers will join together promptly at 10:30 a.m. and latch their babies joining other mothers and babies nursing simultaneously around the world.
Latch with Love Picnic (Indianapolis, IN)
August 3, 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Indy’s Big Latch On is a picnic type celebration. Get to know other breastfeeding families in the area, relax, sign up for free mini photo sessions, and at 10:30 on the dot, latch on your children with mothers from around the WORLD!
